Trump’s ‘Second Amendment’ comments have Clinton backers calling for Secret Service investigation

The republican nominee had signalled “Second Amendment people” – advocates of the U.S. constitutional right to bear arms – may take action against Clinton if she wins the Presidential election.

Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather urged his media colleagues on Tuesday to not downplay the significance of Donald Trump’s remarks about “Second Amendment people” and Hillary Clinton. However, Trump returned to controversy on Tuesday during a North Carolina rally after making a comment about the possible shooting of #Hillary Clinton, as reported by The Hill on August 9.

Trump’s remarks immediately were interpreted by many as a veiled suggestion to gun owners to use violence to prevent Clinton from winning the presidency.

Ms Clinton’s campaign manager Robby Mook was quick to condemn Trump’s comments.

With a vacancy on the nation’s Supreme Court and the potential for the next president to name several new justices, Trump said Clinton would “decimate the Second Amendment”, which guarantees Americans the right to bear arms. “Second Amendment people have awesome spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power”, his spokesperson said.

However, Clinton supporters believe Trump implied a threat of violence against her. It matters what he said – a reckless comment that might or might not be outrageous, depending on your interpretation.

“He’s a pathetic coward who can’t handle the fact that he’s losing to a girl”, the MA senator tweeted, as she often does when it comes to Trump.

Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren responded with a harsh Tweet.

“One read: “@RealDonaldTrump is right.

The NRA followed with, “But there IS something we will do on #ElectionDay: Show up and vote for the #2A!”

The remarks that sparked the firestorm were made at a rally in Wilmington on Tuesday afternoon. Trump also repeated the canard about Clinton wanting to abolish the 2nd Amendment. “Instead, it will simply be added to the ever-growing list of Trump’s disqualifiers – and to the ever-growing burden of Republican leaders who continue to insist that their candidate is suitable to serve”, The Washington Post said in an editorial.

The Secret Service is investigating those remarks, made last month by Al Baldasaro, a New Hampshire lawmaker and adviser to Trump on veterans issues. Yes, Donald Trump said something remarkably very bad AGAIN.

After the report was broadcast it was highlighted by conservative groups and Trump supporters.
