Jefferson County judge lets inmate see infant son for the first time
She made the decision to allow contact between the two – who are accused of breaking into a warehouse to steal televisions – so that James could meet the child there in court. According to her attorney, she had been denied a change of clothes and feminine hygiene products during her 72 hour stay in jail. When she confirmed that she was, Wolf had James Roeder, wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, brought back into the courtroom.

Judge Amber Wolf had previously issued a no-contact order between James Roeder and his wife Ashley, who are co-defendants in a Jefferson County burglary case, reports CBS affiliate WKYT. “And I thought that he hadn’t seen that”.
Late last month, Wolf was incredulous when a female suspect entered her court without trousers.
“I just want to tell you how incredibly sorry I am that you’ve been treated this way, and no one deserves this”, Wolf told the defendant. Don’t say anything. Your lawyer is not present right now. “It occurred to me after we finished this case that he had not met his baby“.
In courtroom video, Wolf asks Ashely Roeder, “You’re sure you’re comfortable with this?” But she made a special exception to the order after Ashley Roeder gave birth as the case against the couple was still pending. “This is your son”.
For several moments James holds his son before eventually giving him back to his wife.
“You see his little shirt?”

James Roeder was in custody when his son was born.
Judge Wolf, who appears to be on the brink of tears herself, then passes a box of tissues to the young couple.
“Give everybody some”, she said.

“If you all aren’t teared up, then you’re just heartless”, she told those in the courtroom. So, she did what she told WDRB was “probably one of the best things” she’s ever done – she asked if Ashley would like her husband to hold their son. The woman’s attorney told the judge her client had been denied trousers and feminine hygiene products by jail guards.
