Walker wins PGA Championship by one stroke over Day
Mickelson said he believed the first 62 in major championship history would be recorded this weekend. None of the leaders got a chance to tee off.

After Robert Streb’s 63 on Friday tied the major record – one Mickelson tied in the first round at Royal Troon – Mickelson believed somebody would break the record at a wet Baltusrol before a champion is crowned.
They never struck a shot.
The third round of the PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club has been called for the day after almost four hours of play being suspended by risky weather including a lot of heavy rain.
The weather created a tricky scenario for the rest of the tournament.
Sunday – TNT 11 a.m. -2 p.m.; CBS 2-7 p.m.
Jason Day tees off on the fourth hole during the Sunday round of the 2016 PGA Championship. The final round will begin at approximately 8:40 a.m. Sunday for the groups that finished before the rain.
Rain was always in the forecast for the weekend. With the exception of a bogey on the final hole Friday, the 47-year-old Texan has been the tournament’s most consistent player. The last time that happened was 2011. He also missed the cut at the US Open but shared fifth two weeks ago at the British Open and 10th at the Masters, the lone major title he needs to complete a career Grand Slam.
Kerry Kaigh, the chief championship officer for the PGA of America, said there were three cells of unsafe weather. I think you could be a little bit aggressive, but also play it safe on some of the holes that you needed to.
“Even on the putting green, you could start to see footprints”, Leishman said. Padraig Harrington and Kevin Kisner were two of 37 players who managed to finish their third round on Saturday and they did it in style, shooting five-under 65s to move up the leaderboard.
“That will be an interesting dynamic for sure … add to the excitement, actually”, Haigh said. But on his second nine, he bogeyed No. 1 and No. 6 to fall back to 4-over, two shots over the cut line. “It just shows you how bad I was around the greens”. They played as the two easiest holes on the course Thursday. “It should yield a few more birdies”.
Jordan Spieth played one hole and narrowly missed a birdie putt.
Walker followed an opening 65 that had him in the lead alone after the first round with a 66 to be at 9 under with Streb.
Sweden’s Stenson, coming off his first major title two weeks ago at the British Open, was fifth on 134 with Germany’s Kaymer, the 2010 PGA Championship and 2014 US Open victor, another stroke back with Americans Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed. Eventual victor Henrik Stenson shot 63 in the final round at Royal Troon. “I would be surprised it wasn’t”.
