How to watch Michael Phelps compete in the 200m medley

United States gold medal victor Michael Phelps laughs during the medal ceremony for the men’s 200-meter butterfly at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro Tuesday. If Phelps were a country he would have the 39th most medals of all time. Phelps was set to retire after the London Olympics, but here he is in Rio still at the top of his game. That is just insane.

The rivalry between US swimmer Michael Phelps and South Africa Chad le Clos is well documented.

If Chad le Clos was trying to get into Michael Phelps’ head on Monday night, it didn’t work. Deehani raised his arms in triumph after hitting the final two targets, then turned and again pounded his chest at the crowd.

Phelps lost to le Clos during the 2012 Olympics in the 200m butterfly.

The picture was taken two years after Phelps dominated the 2004 Athens Olympics, where he won eight medals, six of which were gold.

The 31-year-old added a second medal later on in the night when he joined Ryan Lochte, Conor Dwyer, and Townley Haas to win the 4x200m freestyle relay.

Following another gold medal performance as part of the men’s 4X200-meter freestyle relay, Phelps explained why he went from tears to laughter on the podium.

So this Phelps guy is pretty dang good, and here’s one of the last chances to see him on a big stage in one of his best events.
