Forty-two people were injured after a railing collapsed during an outdoor performance by rappers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa in New Jersey on Friday night. Cell phone video recorded during the concert and posted to the Action News Facebook page captured the moment the crowd surge happened.
Of the 42 injures, police said one person suffered a serious upper-body injury but is in stable condition at Cooper University Hospital. The lawn sits several feet above a concrete walkway.
Security escorted Snoop and Wiz off the stage immdiately after incident, and the concert was stopped.
Basara says officials are still investigating what caused the railing to collapse in the first place.
“The announcers came on the speakers and were like, ‘Everyone just remain calm, we’re figuring out what happened, ‘” she said.
Neither Snoop nor Wiz have yet spoken out publicly about the incident.
Fans at Saturday’s “I Love the 90s” concert featuring Salt N Pepa, Vanilla Ice and other performers told FOX 29’s Sabina Kuriakose they trust everything is now safe. 42 concertgoers were reportedly transported to local hospitals, most with minor injuries.
