Giants’ Bochy released from hospital, expected to manage vs. Marlins

Even Bochy might have flipped to synchronized diving, or tucked into a cup of lime Jell-O and taken a nap.

Posey hit an RBI single, Crawford threaded his third seeing-eye hit of the game and Hunter Pence, who appeared to be blindly flailing at everything out of the zone, took advantage of a middle-middle mistake from Wittgren when Realmuto was nearly out of his crouch calling for a pitch at neck level.

He bumped his batting average 13 points which puts him at.278 on the season.

Just because he was busy making history doesn’t mean Brandon Crawford neglected his defensive duties Monday night against the Marlins.

Seattle’s Hisashi Iwakuma threw seven scoreless innings for his seventh win in eight starts, guiding the Mariners past Detroit 3-0.

“There is no current player I’ve encountered who has as deep an appreciation of baseball history as Ichiro”, Idelson said. “The history of the Giants with all of the great players that have come through, you would think that somebody pushed across seven hits in one day, but it’s pretty insane to be in pretty small company”.

Molina singled to open the inning and was hit by a pitch from Ross Ohlendorf with the bases loaded to drive home the winning run.

Before the Giants and Marlins went to extras, the Braves got a 4-3 win over the Brewers when Matt Kemp scored from third after Brewers center fielder Keon Broxton dropped Gordon Beckham’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 12th. “We’re hopeful, but it’s probably a 50-50 thing”, Mattingly said. “We didn’t figure it out today”.

“I said it (Monday) one day you’re going to be good, find some holes up there and some days, you’re not going to square the ball up and when you do it’s going to be right at somebody”, Crawford said.

The only major league player besides Stennett to get seven hits in a nine-inning game was Wilbert Robinson for the old Baltimore Orioles of the National League in 1892. He still finished two shy of the all-time record – Johnny Burnett racked up nine hits for the Cleveland Indians in a 18-inning affair in 1932 – but that doesn’t make his performance Monday any less impressive.

“This morning, Giants manager Bruce Bochy was admitted to the University of Miami Hospital after feeling ill”, the Giants said in a statement. Bench coach Ron Wotus managed the team, and Bochy is expected to return Tuesday.

“I think that was why”, Crawford said.

Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton had the go-ahead RBI with a first-inning double that shattered his bat in half. “I know what we’re trying to do here and I want to be a part of something really special”.

Christian Yelich went 3 for 6 with a home run and tied a career high with four RBIs for the Marlins.

The Marlins held a 5-1 lead after five innings thanks to back-to-back homers from Martin Prado and Yelich to chase Cueto.

San Francisco threatened in the 13th when Crawford hit a one-out triple off Dustin McGowan (1-3). After the second out, Mattingly intentionally walked two batters to get to the pitcher’s spot in the order. The Giants have some power in their line-up, some speed on their bases, and some players that just have the ability to get on base. Crawford struck out after Koehler issued a pair of one-out walks in the first inning.

The Marlins saw their bullpen blow two leads in Monday’s game and take a win away from Jose Fernandez.

RANGERS 4, ROCKIES 3: Elvis Andrus hit a two-run single, Mitch Moreland delivered a tiebreaking double and Texas scored three times in the ninth inning to beat Colorado.

Crawford’s RBI single in the eighth tied it again.

Hunter Pence s timing is most definitely off, Bochy said, but the only way to get it back is to play him. “They bounced back and from there it was insane after that”.

In Koehler’s past three starts, he has allowed just one run in a combined total of 19 innings, allowing him to lower his ERA to 3.83. San Francisco has a more risky lineup when he is hitting at an effective level, and Monday’s performance helped him snap out of a disappointing stretch.
