The Boomers didn’t reveal how much the contract offer was for, but ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported that it would pay 0 a month.
“This may sound like a publicity stunt, but nothing could be further from the truth”, said Wagenen, in a statement through Tebow’s agent.
“I understand that Tim’s ultimate goal is to make it to the major leagues, just like every other guy on our team”, said Boomers General Manager Pete Laven. “Tim’s tool set is real”. But former major league catcher Chad Moeller, who said in the statement that he had been training Tebow in Arizona, said he was “beyond impressed with Tim’s athleticism and swing”.
“His work ethic is unprecedented, and his passion for the game is infectious. I think this is the ideal situation for Tim to showcase his skills in a game situation”. He will invite all 30 Major League Baseball teams to a workout on a to-be-determined date. In 2004, Tebow was an All-State player at Florida and as a high school junior hit.494.
It’s been over a decade since Tebow, 28, has played baseball full time, which means a comeback would be no easy task.
Boston Red Sox area scout Tom Kotchman was with the Los Angeles Angels when he attempted to get Tebow to choose baseball over football.
“We wanted to draft him, but he never sent back his information card”, Kotchman told WEEI-AM.
