Manchester City are planning contract talks with Fernandinho after the Brazilian’s impressive preseason displays for new boss Pep Guardiola, a source has told ESPN FC.

“They were not overweight but I want my players fit”, Guardiola told reporters in Shenzhen yesterday, on the eve of City’s clash with Borussia Dortmund in the third match of the International Champions Cup China today.

FC’s Gab Marcotti says Everton are holding out for Man City to meet their asking price for John Stones.

“I think he’s an ideal manager for any kind of player”, said the defender.

He has also been brokering deals for Schalke’s Leroy Sane and Palmeiras’ Gabriel Jesus, and there is a confidence within the club that those deals will soon be completed.

“He will play good, I have confidence in him, he will play good, I want to help him a lot, and he will help us a lot, so I’m satisfied that Raheem is with us”. The Premier League side have already had one bid rejected for the Italian worldwide, and is thought to be close to signing a new contract, but Guardiola would have no qualms about spending £50m on a second centre back if he deems it necessary. “I’m so happy with the way we’re training”.

Guardiola, who had warned his players about the dangers of being unfit after Gael Clichy confirmed some first-team stars had been banished from training, issued a warning to Samir Nasri, who has yet to feature in pre-season.

He arrived a little bit overweight.

The 20-year-old, one of three players in the running for the EDS player of the year for last season, has been linked with loan moves to Dutch side NAC Breda and north-west Championship newcomers Wigan Athletic. I’m very happy with the squad we have, in the way they train and play. “We’re going to kill our players”, he said.
