Several news outlets reported that the man told NYPD he is “Steve from Virginia and wants Donald Trump to see him”. Police were reportedly leaning out of these openings, though were unable to stop the man who’s reason for the stunt is so far unknown.

In the video, he discusses wanting to meet Trump, and says he is a “private researcher”.

A young man has caught the attention of thousands of people as he climbs Donald Trump’s famed Trump Tower.

“This man performed a ridiculous and risky stunt”, said Michael Cohen, executive vice-president of the Trump Organization.

After he was hauled into the window, onlookers gathered on the streets below the Fifth Avenue tower cheered.

Using industrial-grade suction cups that can be bought online, as well as a harness and simple rope, he was able to maneuver himself into positions that were not easily reachable by officers keeping watch on him.

Police broke windows, raised a ladder and cut through a vent in attempts to talk to the climber. He was taken into custody at about 3:30 p.m. Police set up barricades around the area as a precaution and also placed out large inflatable cushions.

The video is titled, “Message to Mr. Trump (why I climbed your tower)” and was posted on August 9.

Parts of the building, including the terraces, are open to the public during the day. But they had no immediate intention of trying to pull him in, according to a law enforcement source. “If I had sought this via conventional means, I would be much less likely to have success, because you are a busy man with many responsibilities”.
