Greeneville Police Captain Tim Davis said the inspection reports are near completion but changes needed to be made, and that’s why they haven’t released more information on exactly what went wrong.

Two of the girls were not seriously injured.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the Greene County Fair at 6:17 pm.
Holt said all other scheduled events for the Greene County Fair will continue on as planned.
Niswonger Children’s Hospital Dr. Bracken Burns said in a press conference on Tuesday that the first patient was a 16-year-old girl, who is now in critical condition, although she did well through the night and doctors are hopeful she will be downgraded to stable condition.
The Green County Fair announced on their Facebook page that all rides will be shut down “until further notice”. Along with facial swelling, she has a fever and possibly a bacterial infection, the mother said. The 16-year-old’s injuries were not known. Gregory Lynthacum of Washington County, TN said he saw three young girls fall from the Ferris Wheel when their vehicle appeared to get caught as the wheel lifted them upwards spilling them out.
“The inspectors, there’s four different inspectors so we’ve got all kinds of results coming in, but the inspectors have found that there is a mechanical issue with this ride behind me and that they believe led to the incident at hand”, Capt. Tim Davis said. The study examined data from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The state relies instead on private inspectors hired by ride operators as well as inspections in other states to determine if roller coasters, zip lines and Ferris wheels are safe.
In a follow-up to the audit previous year, the agency said Tennessee law does not require the state to hire its own inspectors.
Family Attractions received its permit to operate the Ferris wheel in Tennessee for the next three months based on a June inspection in IN, according to state Department of Labor and Workforce Development spokeswoman Jennifer Farrar.
The company did not return a message left on the voicemail of the phone number listed on its last inspection report.
Obtain third Party Inspector from website who will determine if the accident was due to malfunction/defective equipment, etc. and submit post accident report to the state.
Authorities say the three youngsters fell from the ride at the Greene County Fair in eastern Tennessee on Monday night. The incident is being investigated by Kansas state police.
“She does have a traumatic brain injury”, Burns said.
