Police say tower climber wanted to meet Trump

The climber will have no luck if he expects to find the Republican nominee in the building as Trump himself is now at a rally in Abingdon, Virginia, more than 500 miles away. Believe me, if my objective were not significant, I would not risk my life pursuing it. Police said he was dehydrated and that they were taking him Bellevue Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

The New York City Police Department said on Twitter that its special operations division and emergency crews had been sent to the building.

A Trump campaign spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

In the video, the unidentified 20-year-old Virginia man says he’s “an independent researcher” who wants to “discuss an important matter” with Trump.

Later Wednesday evening, Trump tweeted “Great job today by the NYPD in protecting the people and saving the climber”. He called the climb “ridiculous and unsafe”.

Large crowds gathered outside the building along Fifth Avenue as the incident unfolded over several hours.

So far, the climber has evaded capture and is still attempting to slowly make his way up the 58-story structure.

The man was pulled inside around 4:30 p.m. MT. They also inflated a giant cushion on the street and an elevated level of the building. However, a Trump Organization executive issued a statement as reported by ABC News. “I’m 100% certain the NYPD had better things to do”.

Shortly after 5 p.m., someone shattered a window on the 16th floor, a few storeys above the man, and draped what looked like blankets over the ledge.
