“One jawan made the supreme sacrifice while two others were injured in the operation against militants in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district”, an army official said here.

The encounter between the security forces and terrorists broke out yesterday near Ragni post in Taya forests. The fight continued till Sunday morning and a search operation was started.
“A group of militants tried to sneak into this side, but were challenged by our alert jawans, triggering a gunfight at Kupaa Gali in Kupwara”, an Army official said. The fire was retaliated ensuing a fierce gunbattle, they said.
He added that the militants’ bodies could be seen lying near the LoC fence but were not retrieved as heavy firing was still going on. Force of militants attack the Indian border has increased in the past week.

Family members mourned the death of a jawan who was killed in an encounter in Tangdhar sector of Kupwar in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. On Wednesday, two militants from Pakistan dressed as a BSF soldier and killed two troopers in Udhampur.
