Witnesses said some protesters pulled out their guns and opened fire on the auto as it drove away.
“A lady came down and hit a protester – knocked the shoes off his feet”, said Sharon Cowan, who was at the scene.
Protesters in Ferguson, Missouri reverted into a violent mob last night when a woman accidentally hit a protester who stepped in front of her auto. The footage then shows protesters chasing after the auto, firing their guns as the vehicle was.
Brown – a teenager – was the victim of a brutal police shooting.
Video from people at the Muny showed some people booing, others jeering, and some supporting the protest.
Shots can be heard on the video less than a minute after the collision.
Police responded to the scene Tuesday night and were continuing to search for suspects linked to the gunfire, which did not hurt anyone but caused damage to the vehicle, Ferguson city spokesman Jeff Small said Wednesday morning. Reports state that by 10 p.m. the commotion was settled, and everyone had left. Two protesters in that area were arrested, and two arrests were made outside the theater.
Earlier in the day, a few hundred people gathered for a memorial service and moment of silence along Canfield Drive at the spot where Brown was fatally shot by officer Darren Wilson after a confrontation on August 9, 2014. A grand jury declined to charge Wilson, and he was cleared of civil rights violations by the Justice Department. Darren Wilson resigned from the police force in November, 2014.
Brown’s death led to months of sometimes-violent protests in Ferguson.
