Manchester City officially sign John Stones
City have signed him and paid this fee because Pep Guardiola recognises his elegance, but go and play in midfield if you can not do the defensive work, too.

“He was a good player to play alongside but he’s not in the same class as Seamus Coleman and that’s visibly obvious to any non-footballing man”, he said, before looking at how Coleman progressed at Everton having come from outside the academy structure like other ex-League of Ireland players.
England global John Stones has just put pen to paper on a £50million transfer to Manchester City – but he was the one being inked when he visited Birmingham over the summer.
Barsnley-born defender John Stones’ proposed move to Manchester City looks like being confirmed soon after the club made a revelation while submitting their Champions League squad to Uefa.
He said: “It’s an ambitious club with a great manager so I can’t wait to get stuck in”.
The 22-year-old England worldwide has signed a six-year deal and is City boss Pep Guardiola’s eighth signing.
Stones will be available to start City’s Premier League opener at home to Sunderland on Saturday evening and it will now be intriguing to see whether he finds himself in the starting lineup from the word “go”.
Spaniard Guardiola, who joined the Manchester club from Bayern Munich at the end of last season, identified Stones as the ideal fit for his possession-based game. I think from last season to this season there’s been a big difference and definitely that mixture between smooth passing and tough defending is going to be a good recipe for my game.
However, Stones has now left Merseyside for the short journey to Manchester, where he will play under decorated manager Pep Guardiola this term. “I always know that there’s a lot of improvement for my game personally”.
England center back also said: “I’m looking forward to playing for this club”. “We have worked hard to bring him to City and we feel we are signing one of the best central defenders in Europe”.

I really hope we are writing more about him for the quality of his play and his success.
