Guys races again in the 4x200m freestyle relay on Wednesday morning (3.38am), and will hope to replicate his performance at the World Championships a year ago when a storming final leg led the British team to gold.

On another fine night for British swimming, in which Siobhan-Marie O’Connor finished second in the 200m individual medley, Guy led his group of four in matching the feat.

Wallace and his teammates (Stephen Milne, Duncan Scott and James Guy) have secured Team GB’s first medal in the event since a bronze in 1984.

“I congratulate Stephen Milne, Robbie Renwick, Dan Wallace, and Duncan Scott as well as their English colleague James Guy on producing such world-class performances in the heat and then the final”.

“To come away with an Olympic medal is unreal. I’m enjoying racing the best guys in the world and I’m happy to be here”. The team is young and we’ll be ready for the title at Tokyo 2020′.

“I knew if I was going in and I had guys beside me, there was no way in hell I’m letting them go past”.

The Americans never looked like being caught.

“We were world champions past year, so we thought we had a medal in us, we just didn’t know what colour”.
