Despite all these polls, a Gallup poll released earlier last month found that Trump and Clinton are among the worst-rated presidential candidates of the last 70 years.
In Portland, some people at Trump’s rally said the candidate should stop getting distracted. A troubling trend for Republicans is the flatness of Trump’s support.
Donald Trump has sparked yet more controversy by refusing to endorse two key figures.
The poll shows gains Trump picked up in wake of July’s Republican National Convention – the two presidential hopefuls were virtually tied as the GOP exited Cleveland – erased with Clinton building on momentum from the Democratic National Convention.
Donald Trump has long claimed that the policies of the Obama administration – and of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – gave rise to the Islamic State.
U.S. Representative Charlie Dent, a Pennsylvania Republican, told MSNBC he could not endorse Trump because of “all these unforced errors” that Trump was making. “I’m never supporting Hillary Clinton”.
Trump has been widely criticized, including by many Republicans, for denouncing the Khans, who are Muslim-Americans. “I urge all Republicans to reject Donald Trump this November”, she concluded.
Whitman’s decision comes at an inopportune time for Republican supporters as Trump has faced backlash for his controversial comments regarding sexual harassment and an ongoing feud with the family of USA fallen soldier Humayun Khan.
Privately, however, Trump has concerns about his own team.
Democrats expected to ride high after their national convention – but they didn’t imagine it would feel this good. They also came on a day that saw the first sitting Republican member of Congress express support for Clinton as well as the top adviser to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and the former top aide to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Donald Trump’s White House campaign was in turmoil on Wednesday (Thursday NZ Time), with a senior Republican Party official furious over his criticism of a dead soldier’s family and his refusal to back the re-election campaign of House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan. In other words, Clinton was more trusted than Trump with the duties of being president.
