When Ocean’s Eleven came out in 2001, we thought it was great, fantastic even because George Clooney (duh).

According to Deadline, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and rapper/YouTube star Awkwafina are set to join the stars of the film, Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. With Clooney on board as producer alongside Soderbergh, it is likely that Danny Ocean will be putting in an appearance at some point.

While we’re talking casting news, Rihanna recently revealed that she’s taking over another iconic movie role, this time on the small screen: BadGalRiRi will play Janet Leigh’s Psycho role in Bates Motel. Awkwafina (real name Nora Lum) is better known for her comedic rap career than for her filmography.

The new film will be an all-female spin-off from the Steven Soderbergh-directed Ocean’s trilogy, which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.

Speaking to Slashfilm back in June, Ross said: “It’s a pretty similar tone”.

Warner Bros is moving forward with its all-female spin-off of Ocean’s Eleven, and has filled seven of the eight titular spots, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. After Ocean’s Eight, which franchises would you like to see recast starring women – maybe a James Bond film starring Kate McKinnon, or the next Mission: Impossible starring Kate McKinnon, or even Magic Mike 3 starring Kate McKinnon? When it comes to Ocean’s Eight, Twitter is divided.
