Travelers can now fly nonstop to the theme park capital of the world, as Allegiant announces new flights from Grand Island to Orlando. The new flight is in addition to its current service to Fort Lauderdale.
To celebrate the return of the route, Allegiant is offering fares as low as $49 one way.
Orlando will be Allegiant’s third destination after entering the Omaha market earlier this year.
Flights will generally be on Fridays and Mondays, said Eric Fletcher, manager of airports for Allegiant. Lauderdale starting in October, is adding service to another Florida city.
Punta Gorda will be Grand Rapids’ sixth Allegiant destination.
The carrier has been in the news recently for a series of emergency landings and flight cancellations, some related to maintenance issues.
The flights will operate twice weekly and show the increased demand for low-cost service between West Michigan and Florida, the statement said.
