Arsenal’s Paulista out for up to two months – Wenger

“Compare that with a player who has been educated here, who has had Champions League for 17 years, who has not known anything else”. That leaves the Gunners without their two starting centerbacks and now Gabriel is hurt too, having sprained his ankle in Arsenal’s final preseason friendly.

Wilshere picked up a minor patella problem during Arsenal’s preseason tour of the United States, and although he is back in training this week he will not be in the squad to face Liverpool.

Arsenal are looking to resolve their defensive woes by signing Lukas Klostermann, 20, from RB Leipzig.

With rumours circulating that Valencia are also in talks with Manchester City for Eliaquim Mangala as the potential replacement for Arsenal target Shkodran Mustafi.

Cape Town – Arsene Wenger has revealed he is “scared” of retiring while explaining his preference for scouting in the lower leagues in search of players hungry for success.

“We are in the transfer market, we are focused on concentrating on the players we have to get them ready for the season”.

“Certainly, all the big clubs, we experienced that season regret and a feel of guilt”, he told Sky Sports News. “It is a bit better than we feared at the start”, Wenger said confirming Gabriel’s injury on Wednesday.

When it was put to Wenger that he might have taken the England job, he said: “Yes, but I think I have shown that I respect my contracts and I respect highly loyalty”.

Arsene Wenger already needed to bring in another defender before Per Mertesacker’s injury, and now that need has become even more acute.

Gabriel appears positive of what the future holds, at least, after posting a motivational picture on Instagram (see below).

“Arsenal, who begin their campaign at home to Liverpool on Sunday, have not won the title since 2004 but will hope to go one better than last season’s second-place finish in 2016-17”. Yes, there’s a lot of money involved, but it will be refreshing for supporters to see and it will boost the quality on the pitch.
