There were a few missed opportunities over the past few months where Sony might have revealed the upcoming console, but it looks like the press event next month will finally show what the PS 4.5 Neo is made of.

Or, that’s what we’ve taken away from an invitation that was sent out to press for a “PlayStation Meeting” scheduled for September 7 in NY. In order to give you an overall idea of what is out there, the invitation contains PlayStation logo with a blue to black radiance background. Recently, the president and CEO of Sony Interactive confirmed that Sony is working on a new version of the PlayStation 4 dubbed PlayStation Neo, which was also confirmed by the company. Just below that, the phrase “PlayStation Meeting” can be found. However, the company announced that the beta will start in early August, and it is nearly mid August and there is no sign for the beta release for PlayStation 4 Firmware 4.0.

The new PlayStation console is expected to support 4K resolution standard, for both gaming and media playback. In addition, the new console is expected to be way powerful than the current iteration as it will support more demanding games and aid to PlayStation Virtual Reality (VR) headset.

Suggestions of a PlayStation 4 Neo, PlayStation 4k or PlayStation 4.5 surfaced in March 2016, in the lead-up to the industry’s Game Developers Conference and ahead of a more public Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June. “We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle”.

The PlayStation Meeting has been announced following the retail launch of Microsoft’s revised Xbox One S, with the Xbox division planning its own significant console overhaul, a work in progress called Project Scorpio, for late 2017. It is also expected to offer an improved virtual reality experience that could support the upcoming PlayStation VR, which is expected to be released on October 13.
