Manchester United now have different values, says Lindegaard

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard claims the Red Devils’ capture of Paul Pogba shows they have abandoned their values.

“First my mum told me I would come back here and I told her, “You never know, we’ll see”.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “I will say Manchester United for the title with Arsenal in second, Manchester City in third and Liverpool fourth”.

They have gone and got one of the pre-eminent players in the world and that will only help them in the Premier League this year.

Lindegaard was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2010 and left United for West Bromwich Albion last summer.

“You can’t prevent it so I guess you just have to embrace it and do as well as you can in that environment”.

United has missed out on some of its No. 1 transfer targets in previous offseasons – notably Gareth Bale and Cesc Fabregas in 2013 – but was determined to push this one through, even if it meant paying a fee widely regarded as overpriced.

“Everyone is looking at Manchester given the two managers that have arrived and the money that is being spent”.

As various clubs continue to scramble for various transfer targets, the 53-year-old has addressed four key areas that required amending after last season.

Due to Van Gaal’s fifth-place finish, United will be playing in the Europa League next season.

Pogba played only seven games – all as a substitute – in his first spell at United, which ended sourly when he allowed his contract to run down and joined Juventus. It has been well documented in recent seasons that United have lacked legs in midfield, a player to get up and down with that power through the middle.

Mourinho has made an impressive start to life at Old Trafford, landing a trophy at the first time of asking in the form of the Community Shield on Sunday.

“I’m just glad we have a top class player at the club, and one who is young enough to play through his best years at Old Trafford”.

Bale was the player who previously commanded the world record fee, when he was sold by Spurs to Real Madrid for £86 million.

“The fact that Guardiola is here, Mourinho is here, Conte has come, the fact that we’ve enticed Pogba to come, I think it gives the feeling that something is starting to happen again, that the very best players might be starting to think about coming to England again”.
