Fencer’s phone falls out of pocket during Olympics match

French fencer Enzo Lefort must have forgotten to take his phone out of his uniform pocket before going up against Germany’s Peter Joppich. An Olympic fencer in the middle of competition in Rio a few days ago had his phone fall out of his fencing trousers while dodging one of those fencing poker things.

The 24-year-old’s phone fell out of his pocket as he fought Peter Joppich of Germany on Sunday.

Unbelievably Lefort had his phone tucked into his back pocket.

However, after a particularly cunning move by Joppich, he won the point, sending the Frenchman stumbling over his feet. At least it’s a good thing Lefort isn’t a swimmer.

The phone skidded across the floor mid-bout before a sheepish Lefort, to the sound of booing from the crowd, picked it up and handed it to an official.

Enzo ended up losing the match, 15-13.

Lefort is now part of the French foil team that are the World and European champions, while he picked up a bronze medal in the individual event at the Fencing World Championships in 2014.

Of course a millennial Olympian dropped his smartphone while competing in a televised fencing match.
