Fans Make Pokemon Uranium Game With New Nuclear Pokemon

An ambitious fan-made Pokémon game for PC has been launched online after more than nine years of development.

We can’t imagine that Nintendo or the Pokemon Company will be too chuffed about the non profit game being available for download, as it obviously had nothing to do with them, but the developers have already reported numerous server crashes due to the popularity of their spinoff.

The game is set in a tropical environment and has the classic look of a Pokemon game. Having not played Pokemon game personally, it reminds me a lot of some Legend of Zelda games in style and art.

Fan projects based off of existing games often don’t make it to the finish line, but that isn’t the case with Pokemon Uranium. These include a new type called Nuclear not found in the official Pokemon games. Version 1.0 of the game has just launched and along with it comes a cool trailer that you can check out at the bottom of this story. Other than that, prepare to do what you’d normally do in a Pokemon game: wander from town to town, catching magical animals and battling random strangers on your quest to become the best trainer in the land.

Note that this obviously isn’t something you can buy, nor is it necessarily meant to be played on a Nintendo handheld; instead, it’s a standalone.exe that you play on a PC. If you ever wanted a Pokemon game on your PC this may be as close as you will get. Grab the 263MB downloadable game for Windows here and get cracking. My advice to them would be to now focus on a brand new RPG that doesn’t infringe on any IP and won’t get Nintendo’s lawyers knocking on their door.
