McKayla Maroney happily hands Michael Phelps her Olympic meme crown
McKayla Maroney fully embraced her “not impressed” face meme while appearing on Good Morning America in NYC on Tuesday, August 9, to promote the Rio Olympic Games. So she’s releasing a single, “Ghost”, on September 8.

The former Olympian opened up to US Weekly on ending her gymnastic career and what she has planned for the future.
We wish McKayla all the luck in the world in her music career or whatever other endeavors she chooses to pursue. “You’re so dedicated and committed”. She is a singer and also plays multiple instruments, her agent confirmed to NBC this year.
I lost myself. It was an identity crisis, no doubt…
“I’m looking at them right now”.
She wrote: “I totally understand why people are upset about me “changing”, I get it. but if i can promise you one thing, it’s that I will never stop changing”. And I got back to the village and my dad was like, you might wanna know about everything that’s happening…
Maroney said she struggled to realize she was worth more “than a gold medal”.
Still, watching her former teammates slay the 2016 games is bittersweet.
“I didn’t know how I was going to be able to handle [watching the Rio Olympics] because being an athlete and being in that world, it’s nearly like you’re like, ‘Oh man, I wish that I would’ve been able to be there, ‘ but I have a total different outlook on it and I am so excited for these girls”, Maroney said. For Aly and Gabby, this is their second time… Michael Phelps’ determined face while trying to ignore the elaborate pre-race antics of his South African rival took the internet by storm, with some going so far as to say it topped Maroney’s.
