Jets’ Fitzpatrick will consider Larry David’s shave plea

During Monday’s “Dan Patrick Show”, comedian Larry David told guest host Charissa Thompson that with just a season of shadowing an offensive coordinator, he could become a one himself. Fitzpatrick said. “It’s incredible that I’ve been the worst quarterback in the league for the last 11 years and somehow I’m still in the league”.

David insists that if he had a season to shadow an offensive coordinator he could pick it up and be successful. “All I have to do is – I think if I just studied, if I just hung around and just learned a little bit”. Here’s what I’ll do: if an offensive coordinator on any team allows me to shadow for a year. What could be so hard about it? David asked rhetorically. “You make up plays!” Why is that so hard? I’m creative in certain respects and I think I could do that. It’s amusing but you know he’s not joking in the back of his mind, even though it would be completely impossible (unless the sport was curling). You can’t just magically whip up a playbook and bust out stuff you think will work.

Larry David, the creator of “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, is a big New York Jets fan. In addition to wanting Fitzpatrick to shave his beard, David was also lobbying for a job as the offense coordinator of the Jets. Why does he need that beard?

“That beard bothers me”, he said.

He went on to comically question (video above) quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick’s beard, which has grown to tremendous depths since past year.

Overall, David simply chimed in the thoughts of many Jets fans who realistically know, this is a team that we’ll always root for but might be on the outside looking in this upcoming season. Imagine Mickey Mantle with a full beard like that. What are you doing here? Sure, it’s just preseason for now but in just a few weeks, the regular season will arrive and the New York Jets will be ready to continue the momentum they built upon from previous year.
