Child falls from coaster at Pennsylvania amusement park

A child fell from a roller coaster at Idlewild and SoakZone in western Pennsylvania, an emergency dispatcher told the Associated Press. Officials have not said which ride the child fell off, but the Wild Mouse was operating when Chopper 11 flew over the scene.

According to WTAE in Pittsburgh, a child fell off a roller coaster at Idlewild and SoakZone in Ligonier, about 50 miles east of Pittsburgh.

These days, it’s owned by Parques Reunidos, an global entertainment operator based in Madrid, Spain, that also operates parks such as Kennywood near Pittsburgh.

The incident comes on the heels of multiple high-profile accidents at amusement parks across the country, including one that ended in the death of a child. Children ages 36 inches tall and up are permitted to ride the classic coaster.
