Movie boss cribbed our look, Antwoord allege
Die Antwoord posted a very aggressive allegation to their Instagram last night, pulling up Suicide Squad director David Ayer on his supposedly blatant reappropriation of their “look” – or, as they put it, “jockin our style”. She alleges that she’d been told by both Leto and Cara Delevigne how much Ayer would talk about the band onset.

Visser claims her partner, Ninja, who went to the film’s premiere with his son, texted the director to ask why he’d allegedly “nibbled” their ideas.
Though for some, these seeming references could be flattering, to Visser it’s a barefaced case of “jockin’ [their] style”.
Visser concludes her angry post by blasting the critically-panned Suicide Squad as a “bulls**t movie” and branding Ayer “wack”, before challenging him to meet with them in person to explain himself. The clip flashes through a montage of side-by-side photos of singers Ninja and Yolandi Visser alongside Jared Leto’s Joker character and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, respectively. “U were jus flauntin our names pretendin to b down. u aint down an u never will b”. U shud start a crew called: ‘im a fake f***’ ask kanye if he wants to join u.
The worst part was “poor ninja had to sit thru dat hole bullshit movie” she added.
South African performance artists turned actual musical group Die Antwoord have never been shy about calling out their entertainment industry peers, whether it’s Kanye West or Lady Gaga, and those in Hollywood aren’t spared either.
Despite the bad reviews, Suicide Squad topped the United Kingdom box office upon its release.
