Mourinho was annoyed with his medical staff for entering the pitch to treat midfielder Eden Hazard in the third minute of stoppage time during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Swansea City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Yet footage shows that in the moments before the Chelsea medical team entered the field of play the referee Oliver twice turned to the bench after Hazard went down, following a challenge from Gylfi Sigurdsson, and signalled for the pair to come on.
The Chelsea doctor posted on her private Facebook page to thank those who have given their support in the wake of the high profile fall-out with the blues boss.
“It is a huge concern that Dr Carneiro has been subjected to unprecedented media scrutiny and a change in her professional role, merely because she adhered to her code of professional conduct and did her job properly”.
Chelsea players were “genuinely shocked” to find out that her working regime will change, the paper said. I think is the right decision to help Eden Hazard.
Chelsea have declined to comment on “internal staffing matters”.
Peter Brukner, Liverpool’s former head of sports medicine and sports science and the current Australia cricket team doctor, believes Mourinho’s conduct has been disrespectful and without cause. Carneiro is very well respected among her peers and the players.
Earlier in the summer, Mourinho stated that his medical team must improve after Diego Costa’s persistent injury troubles, according to the Guardian.
“Our first priority as doctors and physio is the health and safety of the individual player, and that’s what they were attending to”, he said.
