Instagram Intros Stories Feature, Because Forget Snapchat
You can also choose to “upgrade” a story post to your main Instagram feed before it expires.

At the moment, Instagram users tend to be very selective about the photos they share, because they are anxious about over-posting.
So as you can see, there’s plenty of similarities between Instagram’s stories feature and Snapchat’s stories feature. And if you want to feature a certain part of your story, you can post that part on your profile.
There’s no limit to the amount you can post within a 24-hour window, and photos and videos can be edited using a range of new tools and text options. Now there’s a way to post photos and videos that disappear from the site after 24 hours.

Instagram Stories enables users to annotate images and videos with text, doodles and cartoonish items like sunglasses and baby bottles.
Usual privacy settings apply to stories so users can ensure only their followers see content if they wish. Unlike public posts, however, there is no functionality to add reactions or comments, but you can send a direct message to the poster.
Instagram Stories will be rolling out globally over the next few weeks on both iOS and Android.
“When watching your own story, swipe up to check out who’s seen each photo and video”, the company explained.
Stories is a smart way to boost engagement on Instagram, which has crossed 500 million monthly active users.
When you think of Instagram, you probably think of a service where the images you share remain forever.
Stories on Instagram will work just slightly pretty much exactly like they do on Snapchat.

Instagram stories are basically same as the Snapchat stories. Now you can share your highlights and everything in between, too. Stories can also be hidden from specific people. The move here is clearly a power play by the Facebook-owned company to try and better compete against Snapchat, which has seen tremendous growth and popularity among younger users.
