Zach Johnson tied for John Deere Classic lead

Unlike many of his peers who waited out a 3-hour, 30-minute weather stoppage in the clubhouse, Rodgers scurried to the auto with his buddies.

Weather is often unpredictable but he says rain or shine the goal is to make sure the people who attend have a good time.

The lengthy delay didn’t impact his concentration.

Only a rain delay could slow Zach Johnson as he fired a six-under 65 on Thursday to share the clubhouse lead before first-round play at the John Deere Classic was suspended due to darkness. The round resumed at 3:08 p.m., with none of the afternoon starters able to finish.

Loupe will have an 8-foot par putt at the 15th hole when competition resumes at 7 a.m. today. “I love the putting surfaces”.

Jon Rahm, the 21-year-old Spaniard, is one over through seven holes. He followed with a 76 to miss the weekend.

“I’m comfortable here, that goes without saying”, Johnson said. “I’m not going to lay down”. Ogilvy completed 12 holes, and Hoffman 14.

“So, I’ve still got to stay focused and keep the pedal down”.

“The stop definitely threw me off a little, ” he said. My only bogey was a three-putt.

Between late February and mid-July, Rodgers had nine missed cuts and nothing better than a 20th-place tie in 16 events.

Matt Jones (three-under) and Rod Pampling (two-under) are both yet to finish their rounds. It has carried into the Quad-Cities. “I felt like I left some out there, too, at the same time”. “I treat this event as a hometown event, and it’s really nice to get off to a nice start”.

“I don’t know what it is, but I love the golf course”, said Johnson, the 2012 victor at TPC Deere Run.

Andrew Lehman is the assistant tournament director of the John Deere Classic.

It was the 29th consecutive round Johnson has shot below 70 at the JDC and his 12th round without a bogey. “I didn’t have any really hard saves until the eighth and ninth, the last two holes I played”.

“I’m excited for the week, ” said Johnson, who assessed his round as solid.

Moore has been inside the top 25 each of the past four years at the JDC and posted his 20th straight round under par at Deere Run.

That saved par and kept Moore in a tie for the clubhouse lead.

“Every course does handle it a little bit differently”, Moore said.

“It’s not the success that I’ve wanted or expected to have at this event, but it’s an event that I hold dear, and I’m excited to get off to a good start”, said Rodgers.
