“Yes, there will be a musical crossover”, Berlanti told reporters. The two-episode event will air on The CW during the back half of the year “around episode 13 and 14” of the two series.

“Some of you may know my own personal love of musicals and the people who act in them”, said Berlanti.

Benoist and Gustin had roles on “Glee”, while Jesse L. Martin of “The Flash” and Jeremy Jordan of “Supergirl” are Broadway vets.

According to Berlanti, the songs will be “preexisting”, meaning that there will be no original songs written for the shows, and it sounds like it’ll just be one episode between the two shows.

“We’ll be careful about how they’ll break into song”. Which is why there are going to make sure that in addition to crossing over Supergirl and The Flash, that other characters from Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow would have the opportunity to play!

“We’re happy to take requests throughout the year, what songs from what musical you’d like to see”, Berlanti said, suggesting fans tweet him their ideas at @GBerlanti.

The news came fast and furious with the nine producers on stage at the Television Critics Association, among them several casting notes. “One of the characters on one of the shows is going to explore their sexuality and coming out”, said Andrew Kreisberg, an EP on all four shows. His most memorable use outside of comics is probably in “Mayhem of the Music Meister!”, the musical episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, in which he uses mind control to force superheroes to commit crimes while singing and dancing.
