Laverne Cox: ‘Frank-N-Furter role is tons of pressure’

‘I was standing in housing court in New York City with an eviction notice from my apartment, and I’m happy to have a job, ‘ she said. However, Geller made a point to give a shout-out to the casting of transgender woman Laverne Cox in the upcoming legal drama Doubt as “historic” for the network.
On her history-changing role, Cox said, “That piece is really wonderful that folks can have someone like Cameron who is Ivy League educated”.
It’s that simple for Cox who was facing tough times before her breakthrough on TV’s Orange is the New Black in 2013.
Cox will also star in Fox’s version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and will still capture audiences’ hearts on Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black. “A lot of people in my community watch TV and there weren’t people like me when I was growing up”.
Her last visit two years ago, for NBC’s State of Affairs, found Heigl asked to address rumors that she’s “difficult”.

The actress was asked how she felt about having to promote a new show after unsuccessfully trying to launch another one so recently. I’m also a doctor and a lawyer in one year. I remember when I was reading the pilot I was like, ‘Why do they want me to audition for this?’ I’m reading, ‘OK, she’s a lawyer, oh this is really cool? I’ve been performing my whole life, so just getting to do what I love doing most is so incredible. “It was engaging in a totally different way, but this was all in place [when I joined]. As [Oprah Winfrey] reminds us, ‘Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.’ So maybe I’m just prepared”. “That’s still a work in progress, but I’m so blessed that they really wanted to keep writing for Sophia over at “Orange” and that we have brilliant writers writing for Cameron here”.
