Phelps and Lochte set up final showdown
After leading her team to gold in the all-around team event Tuesday, Biles is looking for an individual gold medal to call her own as she and 23 other women, including USA teammate Aly Raisman, compete in the all-around final.

Luckily for Team USA however, the anchor position was filled by none other than rising Olympic superstar, Katie Ledecky.
Phelps and Lochte already combined for a gold medal on Tuesday in the 4×200 freestyle relay.
The next closest competitor to Ledecky in Thursday’s prelims was Hungary’s Boglarka Kapas, who was 6.57 seconds behind, followed by British swimmer Jazz Carlin at 6.81 seconds behind.
Michael will be competing for his fourth straight Gold medal after winning it in the 2004 Athens Games, 2008 Beijing Games, and 2012 London Games.
Lochte, who moved to Charlotte three years ago to train at SwimMAC Carolina, has 12 Olympic medals and would be considered the greatest Olympic swimmer of many generations.
Katie Ledecky, Allison Schmitt, Leah Smith and Maya DiRado posted a time of 7:43.03 in winning the final.
Hosszu won her third gold medal with victory in the women’s 200 individual medley.
Still coming for the 19-year-old is the defence of the 800m freestyle gold she won in London.
Belmonte Garcia used one last half-stroke to get to the wall ahead of Madeline Groves in 2:04.85.
In the men’s 100 meter freestyle, all eyes were on Nathan Adrian, as he looked to defend his gold medal. He’ll swim the 200-meter individual medley final in pursuit of a record fourth consecutive title in the event and return about 30 minutes later for the 100 butterfly semifinals.
Seventy-five minutes after racing, he was back in the water to swim the final leg of the 4×200 freestyle after Conor Dwyer, Townley Haas and Ryan Lochte had built a lead of 1.76 seconds.
Phelps and Lochte have each medaled in the 200 IM in the last three Olympics.
Lochte will be right next to him again, ranking second in 1:56.28.
Katie Ledecky helped the United States secure the 4X200m freestyle relay event.
“Any chance I can get to race Michael, it’s the best”, Lochte said. Her younger sister Bronte was fifth-fastest at 53.29.

Defending Olympic champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo also advanced, along with Canada’s Penny Oleksiak, Simone Manuel of the United States and Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden.
