Rodriguez is set to play his final game for the Yankees on Friday night at home against Tampa Bay. He has agreed to become a special adviser to team owner Hal Steinbrenner, but he has refused to rule out playing for another team if someone calls.
The Yankees announced Sunday that Rodriguez will be released following the game Friday night. “My mom and the girls (his daughters) are on their way home to NY, and they’ll get a chance to watch me. He’s probably saving me some embarrassment, so that’s not a bad thing”.
“It would have just been fun”, Rodriguez said. “One last lick before I go back to Miami”.
“I’m focusing on, this is it”, he said. If he were to hit four in these last two games, he would be the fourth players in baseball history to reach 700.
Rodriguez flied out, but the Yankees turned the tables in the inning, scoring five runs to turn a 4-1 deficit into a 6-4 lead, en route to a 9-4 win. “We’re still in this and I just felt that the situation hasn’t presented itself”. “This is it. I’m not looking beyond that”.
Rodriguez had asked to return to his old position for the last game.
Also, it’s not like A-Rod is the only guy being considered for the Hall of Fame that has had issues with PEDs in the past.Quite honestly, it would not surprise me if it came out that maybe 20 percent of the players in the Hall of Fame used some sort of PED in their career.
Rodriguez lives in Miami, leading to speculation he could end up with the Marlins. I value the pinstripes, I value this organization.

“I have enough pressure as it is”, Rodriguez said.
