Steelers Sign Hartley To Replace Suisham

They say the turf caused him to lose his footing while he ran down under his kickoff. Apart from spending six NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints, Hartley also experienced working alongside NFL stars in the Cleveland Browns roster.

-RB Cameron Stingily, an undrafted rookie halfback from Northern Illinois, left Sunday’s game with what head coach Mike Tomlin called a significant knee injury, possibly to the meniscus. He’s probably not a candidate to make the 53-man roster either, but it only goes to show being a well-known college player means nothing when it comes to making it in the NFL. Feely found a spot with the Bears at the end of last season, filling in for an injured Robbie Gould.

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Henery in the fourth round in 2011 and cut him last August. He added the field will be removed during a stadium renovation that is planned for September. He signed with the Steelers during the 2011 season when they decided to release Jeff Reed, who is not a candidate to rejoin them.

Pittsburgh now must scramble to find a kicker roughly one month out from the regular season, likely from a grizzly veteran free-agent market. The team may have a competition for the job, but Hartley is now the favorite to handle kicking duties for a team with an excellent offense.

The Pittsburgh Steelers nearly always bring two kickers to camp.

In 2010, he was back to being the Saints’ full-time kicker, but struggled with consistency, hitting just 20-of-25 kicks, including two misses from less than 30 yards. To make matters worse, the Steelers lost to the Vikings, 14-3. Ugh.

Don’t worry, Steelers nation, Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell are all safe.

First-round pick Bud Dupree made his professional debut not with a splash but a quiet performance. But when I hear the words “Billy Cundiff“, all I can think of is the missed field goal-a 32-yard field goal, mind you-that would’ve sent the Ravens and Patriots into overtime of the AFC Championship game in 2012.
