When Engleder realized she had won, she dropped down to her knees and screamed with excitement to the crowd.

Engleder cracked a wry smile after the German national anthem began, then started singing the words.

In Rio, Du won the silver medal in the women’s 10m air rifle competition.

“This is my last Olympic Games and nearly the last competition to shoot”, she said. She fell to the bronze medal on Thursday after hitting an 8.6 on her final shot.

“I know that you will do so again”. “At least I have in Rio 2016 a silver and a bronze medal”.
