Women’s gymnastics all-around wraps up in Rio
“There was no question mark”.

After narrowly missing out four years ago, Aly Raisman captured an Olympic silver medal in the women’s individual all-around competition. “So it’s kind of the same thing”, said Raisman after he event.
“I wanted to see how far I could go in this sport”, she said. “I don’t know what else to say”. We are 100 percent together. That was a coaching decision by Martha Karolyi, the architect of this gymnastics dynasty.
Raisman secured the silver after beating rival Aliya Mustafina.
Though Mustafina took a small lead through two rotations, it was a mirage. It’s there, up last among the six women, that she flew to the gold medal, scraping the ceiling with her toes as the crowd clapped along with her Brazilian-themed routine. She later testified against the coach, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Instead, Biles posted a ridiculous 15.933 on the floor exercise, the biggest score on floor by half a point – also over Raisman – to win the gold medal by 2.1 points.
Watch her Twitter commentary – with volume! – below.
No female gymnast has ever won five gold medals in one Olympics, so Biles could make history even before she leaves Rio. The tiebreaker rules stipulated that each gymnast’s lowest score would be dropped, and the total of the remaining three would determine the bronze medalist.
No one is better than Biles. Let that debate rage.
The 19-year-old – world champion in all-around, balance beam and floor – ensured that the women’s event would not have the nail-biting finale which saw Kohei Uchimura win by 0.099 of a point 24 hours previously.
“I just have two Olympic gold medals”. “The question is, Will there be anyone else that can match what she’s done?” I think she’s that phenomenal. She did more than extend the Americans golden streak of four consecutive Olympic champs in the event.
Her score of 15.433, combined with a 13.866 by Mustafina, put her comfortably in first place and she never looked back.
Biles closed with a 15.933 in the floor exercise to take the gold.
“It’s very special to finally be on the podium”. “I was relieved, but pressure usually doesn’t get to me”. “It was so special”. For Raisman, a stellar routine scored a 15.433 propelling her past Mustafina into what would have been a gold medal. They’re chatting quietly and smiling – and Mustafina tells Tutkhalian to hold still, because they’re a slight mar to the makeup near her eye. The 22-year-old finished with a final score of 60.098, per Rio2016.com.
“You never know the feeling until it hits you”, said an emotional Biles. “I just do my gymnastics”. It’s been my career and my passion and what I love to do.

“No one goes into this thinking they can beat Simone”, Raisman said. Which she nearly never does and rarely is.
