Ford Motor Co. has recalled 830,000 vehicles, including 315,000 made in Louisville, because a faulty door latch may cause doors to open during driving.
The recall includes 2013-15 Ford C-MAX and Escape, 2012-15 Ford Focus, 2015 Ford Mustang and Lincoln MKC, and 2014-16 Ford Transit Connect vehicles. Also included are the TransitConnect and Mustang from 2014 to 2016, and the 2015 Lincoln MKC.
So far, Ford is only aware of one crash and one injury that could be related to the recall.
Service technicians will replace the side door latches in approximately 767,000 US-market vehicles.
Ford is instructing dealerships to replace the vehicles’ side-door latches. Hence, FoMoCo informs that this recall is focused primarily in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and so forth. To check and see if your vehicle is affected, visit owner.ford.com, scroll to the bottom of the page, click on “Safety Recalls”, and enter your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN number. Imagine being unable to open your car’s door simply because the door latch is stuck or jammed – now that would be an embarrassment.
The recall only covers vehicles in warm-weather states, because the rate of incidents is higher in those areas, Ford said in a statement today.

The company said 766,682 of the cars that are affected by the recall are located in the United States, while 61,371 of the autos are in Mexico.
