Gonzalez likely headed for DL after White Sox 2-1 loss
From clubhouse drama to mediocre play that left the Sox with a 54-58 record after a 7-5 victory in 10 innings over the Royals on Tuesday, the Sox have been short on feel-good stories this year.

Royals right-hander Ian Kennedy, who has a 0.93 ERA in his past three starts, held the White Sox to one run and six hits over 6 1/3 innings.
The scenario couldn’t have been any more hard for the White Sox after the bullpen pitched 6 1/3 innings in Wednesday’s extra innings loss. Fourteen pitchers combined to throw 424 pitches.
“I’ve been ready to go home for a while now”, Cain told MLB.com. That gave the Sox a 4-3 lead after the Royals jumped on Chris Sale with seven hits and three runs over the first three innings. “After that, I didn’t have anything to push off with, no strength”.
Gonzalez was removed after 21 pitches with a right groin strain, and the White Sox lost 2-1 to Duffy and the Royals on Thursday night.
The Sox only had three hits over the other seven innings, and only one more at-bat with runners in scoring position (they went 1-for-3).
Kansas City Royals’ Jarrod Dyson, right, beats the tag by Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson, left, during the sixth inning of a baseball game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016.
Fulmer recovered, though, pitching a scoreless seventh inning before being replaced by Tommy Kahnle, who struck out the side in the eighth.
Dyson took third on Paulo Orlando’s comebacker, then trotted home when Cheslor Cuthbert tripled.
“They did a great job”, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said.

“Deception on his off-speed pitches”, Frazier said of Duffy. That’s when he surrendered three straight two-out hits, the last an RBI single by Jason Coats. “He’s getting close, probably in the next day or so”, Yost said of throwing off the mound. He made his major-league debut in 2011, going 4-8 with a 5.64 ERA in 20 starts. He did not issue a walk for the first time since July 2, when he came within one out of a complete game in a 6-2 victory over the Phillies in Philadelphia.
