Eurostar cancels handful of trains due to strike
“We have made some small changes to our timetable, with all passengers due to travel on affected trains notified in advance, to allow them to change their booking to another train on the same day”.

RMT is protesting work hours they deem “anti-social” at Eurostar, which served 10 million travelers past year, and plans a second, three-day walkout from August 27 through August 29.
The company said it was working on plans for Sunday and Monday and will be able to accommodate all customers booked to travel.
The union says the strike is over “the work/life balance of safety-critical train managers”.
The cross-channel operator confirmed two trains have been cancelled today – 8:04 from London to Brussels and 12:52 departure from Brussels to London.
LONDON (AP) – Dozens of train managers on Eurostar services under the English Channel have walked off the job in a dispute over working conditions.
It centres on Eurostar’s apparent failure to stand by an agreement in 2008 created to ensure train managers could expect a good work-life balance – which union members claim is being undermined.
A second strike has been called for the three days over the Bank Holiday weekend, beginning August 27.
A spokesman said: “We are aware of the RMT/TSSA plans for strike action this weekend”.
“Pickets are out at St. Pancras International as we send the message to the company that we expect them to honor basic agreements with the union that date back eight years”, RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said in a statement.

“This is a long-standing issue and there is still time to resolve it if common sense prevails on Friday”, he said.
