THQ Returns as Nordic Games Rebrands, Has 13 Unannounced Titles in Development

THQ Nordic went on to say that it now had 23 games in development, 13 of which have yet to be announced, so expect to hear some big news over the next few weeks. In 2014, Nordic acquired the THQ name itself and now has come the time to finally use it.

According to Lars Wingefors, chief executive of THQ Nordic, this was a defining moment for the company, and the IP it acquired will become a key part of the its future.

Thankfully, the Austrian based Nordic Games which had been in the industry since 1993 but was still a relatively small name, saw a great opportunity to acquire the rights and now today, we are seeing the return of one of our beloved publishers out there.

With 23 games in development, Wingesfrost noted that 13 of these were unannounced at this time.

“THQ Nordic represents a core approach of doing much more than “owning” a highly competitive portfolio of IP”, the new THQ Nordic said in a statement. Amusing enough, back then, this was so true. “It revolves around cherishing them, and aligning them with the very best development resources to expand upon them with the level of experience that communities and established fan bases expect and deserve”‘. Side note – another upside to this whole rebrand thing is we don’t get asked about the Nordic Game parties at Gamescom anymore – it was the other guys who threw them.

“With this rebrand we are entering the next phase in our company’s evolution”, he continued.
