Despite still officially being an Everton player Manchester City have seemingly taken the time out to include John Stones in their Champions League squad.
Stones has moved to the Etihad from Merseyside by signing a six-year deal at the Etihad Stadium.
“John is an excellent young English defender and we are all really pleased he is joining us”, City director of football Txiki Begiristain told the club website.
The 22-year-old, who joined Everton from Barnsley in 2013 for £3million, has now left Merseyside for what the Toffees have called “a record transfer fee”.
“It’s an ambitious club with a great manager so I can’t wait to get stuck in and help achieve the goals”.
Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta says he will be staying at the club, with boss Pep Guardiola having told him he is part of his plans for this season.
According to the UEFA website Stones is among City’s registered defenders for their upcoming play-off against Steaua Bucharest complete with a squad number of 24.
“I like the way he plays the game and I’m looking forward to welcoming him into the squad”.
