Captain Marvel’s Origin Being Changed for Movie Version
“She’s obviously such an incredibly kick-ass character and Kelly Sue DeConnick did a great run with her story arc [in recent comics in the last several years]”.

The upcoming Captain Marvel movie is going to deviate from the origin story comic fans may already be familiar with.
So not only will Perlman and the team behind Captain Marvel have to change up Carol’s origin enough to separate it from Green Lantern’s story, but they’ll also have to keep it unique enough to not feel like a recycled Marvel plot line. It’s unknown how the story will be changed for the film. The good news is we’ll get to see Captain Marvel in action in The Avengers: Infinity War, something that was accidentally revealed by Anthony & Joe Russo awhile back.
She said: “I don’t think I’ve ever had a project where I’ve been more mindful about the impact that it could have and the importance of it”.
“Captain Marvel” heads to cinemas on 8 March 2019.
Speaking on the Any Time With Vin Forte podcast Wednesday, Captain Marvel screenwriter Nicole Perlman noted that the change was, in part, attributed to the similarities between the character’s origin story and that of Green Lantern, who had his own feature film in 2011 (starring Ryan Reynolds).
Obviously Carol’s her own character, and will apparently be spun off away from Mar-Vell, but a nice little nod to the comic book series would be to have Steve Rogers be instrumental in some way to her superhero name decision. We have to be aware of what’s happened in other Marvel films and make sure that her particular storyline is unique and fun and also fits in within this world that’s going on at the same time.
We’ve seen shifts in the origins of various Marvel heroes in the MCU and Carol Danvers is a bit of an odd one at that, so this is hardly shocking, but saying it’s being motivated by Hal Jordan’s similar backstory is a little odd. After being announced as Captain Marvel at San Diego Comic-Con in July, Larson expressed her gratitude for all the excited comments on her new job.
Captain Marvel started out as Carol Danvers, an over-achieving test pilot until she experienced a fateful explosion from an alien Kree device. It’s been good to have a partner.

It was always a bit of a weird origin-and unlike the Carol Danvers fans grew to love in the rebooted Captain Marvel comics, one where she wasn’t really an active agent, getting her superpowers from her space-boyfriend. The ring imbues him with powers, and he’s commissioned as an officer of the Green Lantern Corps, a galactic law enforcement agency.
