Delta cancels over 500 flights Tuesday following power outage

Thousands of people are still stranded, a day after Delta flights were grounded by a power cut.

Delta Air Lines said it canceled almost 500 flights Tuesday as it tries to get operations back to normal following a computer systems failure Monday.

The airline canceled around 1,000 flights on Monday, Aug. 8, stranding passengers at airports around the globe.

“When you want to cry like the little kids who are stuck overnight at the airport but you’re an adult”, a user under the name Miriam Palmer lamented on Twitter.

Delta’s flight information was not showing correctly on Delta’s website or on airport information boards, and this could also take time to resolve, the carrier said in the latest update.

Ryan Shannon, whose flight from Lexington, Kentucky, on Monday was delayed, said passengers boarded, were told to exit, waited about 90 minutes, then got back on the plane and flew to NY without further incident. “The company could have done a better job of explaining … what was happening”.
