Zabaleta set for City stay under Guardiola

While Pep Guardiola admits he would have preferred to have won his final pre-season game ahead of the new season, he felt there were a lot of positives to take from the 3-2 loss to Arsenal.

“I’ve been told by the manager to be part of the squad for this season so I’m more than pleased about this because City was always my priority”, Zabaleta told reporters. It’s different from [Sunday]. “We had a hard training week with double sessions so obviously some people are a little bit exhausted but now it’s back to the real business, so we will see how we are and I’m confident we will do fine”.

The England worldwide assisted Sergio Aguero for Man City’s first goal of the game in their 3-2 defeat against Arsenal.

Speaking with Sky Sports De Bruyne remains very optimistic about Guardiola’s arrival; “I’m working now quickly on my fitness to come back as fast as I can but there’s already a few changes and I’m looking forward to how he’s going to manage a team and change some things tactically”.

“It’s totally different, obviously”, he said. I trained a lot already, a little bit in the vacation, and now I’m doing fine. When you are later [arriving] there’s a whole new thing but I think I am getting most of it.

“We made a few mistakes in our build-up as except for the second goal – that was the quality of the Arsenal players – the chances that we conceded were our mistakes”.
