Clinton trying to rig debates with NFL conflicts

“So we’re going to sit down with the commission in the next week or so and we’re going to start talking to them and we want to make sure we have a broad audience, understanding, watching the debates“, Manafort told CBS’s “Face the Nation”. In 1992, the football debate drew the second-biggest audience out of three; it was first of three in 2004 and third of three in 2012. It also played out on social media that Trump never really got a letter from the National Football League about this, though it would prefer to have the debates on another night.

Three presidential debates are scheduled between Trump, the Republican nominee, and Clinton, the Democratic nominee – September 26, October 9 and October 19.

Trump’s tweet also brought up Bernie Sanders, saying “same as last time w/ Bernie”, a veiled reference to the Democratic primary debate calendar.

Following the NFL’s denial that a letter had been sent to Trump, a Trump aide said the Republican candidate “was made aware of the conflicting dates by a source close to the league”.

The two debates that aired against National Football League games in 2012 were the vice presidential debate on Thursday, Oct. 11 and the final presidential face-off on Monday, Oct. 22. The four 2008 debates included two Thursdays Fridays, one Monday Wednesday and one Tuesday.

While this is certainly not the first time that Donald Trump’s claims have been refuted soon after they were uttered, the way he has gone on about widely brandishing his style of political skulduggery even after winning the nomination is staggering to say the least. “We’re not going to be having debates on Saturday and Sunday nights, I don’t believe”, Priebus said Sunday.

During a stop at Grandpa’s Cheesebarn in Ashland, Ohio, today, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton committed to being at all three presidential debates.

The commission, established in 1987 to organize and manage the presidential debates, said it is impossible to avoid all sporting events when scheduling the debates.

Should the presidential debates be rescheduled?

Republican Party presidential nominee Donald Trump told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he was not happy with the current debate schedule.

Donald Trump is wrong when he says the presidential debates are rigged.

The Commission on Presidential Debates has dismissed the accusation, saying in a statement that the scheduling process began more than a year ago to identify possible conflicts.

The Oct. 9 date falls on the New York Giants, a team from both Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton’s home state, taking on the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. “Unacceptable!” Trump said in a July 29 tweet. The NFL announced its 2016 schedule in April this year though it has traditionally scheduled games on Sundays, Mondays and, more recently, Thursdays.

Jason Miller, a senior communications adviser for the Trump campaign, said Sunday on CNN that the campaign will try to move the dates. The commission has already ruled out Saturdays and Fridays because TV viewing is lower on those days.

Before Trump weighed in, former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau asserted on Friday’s “Keepin’ It 1600” podcast that Clinton should call for more debate sessions.

“I heard the same thing actually”, Favreau said.
