“As a guest on the show”, the “Florence Foster Jenkins” star fielded a number of questions about his former female costars, whose photos were pulled up for him to review.
The actor – who worked with Zellweger on Bridget Jones’s Diary and its sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason – looked shocked when her identity was revealed, and said: “Oh Renée!”
“Who is the one second from the right, because I’ve never seen her before in my life”, Hugh asked, according to The Daily Mail. However, Renee is the only one who has made headlines for her changing looks recently, especially after looking completely unrecognizable on a red carpet in October 2014.
Hugh Grant attends the premiere of “Florence Foster Jenkins” at AMC Loews Lincoln Square on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, in NY.
After a long hiatus from movies, Zellweger will return next month in “Bridget Jones’s Baby”. Grant explained that he was approached by producers years ago, but turned the opportunity down because of the script. “I’m particularly hard and queeny when it comes to scripts, and I couldn’t quite make the script work for me, so they then made it without me and I’m sure it’s brilliant”.
As for whether he regrets turning down the role, Grant joked, “It depends on how much money it makes, obviously”.
He was asked to come back for the new film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, as Lothario love interest Daniel Cleaver, but the storyline just didn’t work for him.
