Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said: “The change taking place in the world between 2010 and 16 ideologically has to play a role in the valley”.
At an All Parties Meeting called to discuss recent situation in IoK, PM Modi expressed like every Indian he was “deeply pained” by the recent incident in Kashmir, reported another Indian media outlet The Indian Express.
CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury and some others sought lifting the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, which gives unfettered powers to security forces, from civilian areas in the Valley.
“There is no lowering of guard as far as security is concerned”.
Numerous young men who came out onto the streets in the wake of Wani’s death threw stones at security forces, an increasingly common form of protest in India’s only Muslim-majority state. Violence, terrorism and anti-Indian activity would be dealt with sternly, Mr. Modi warned. The NIA also released a video of confessions made by Bahadur Ali, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist who was arrested by Indian security officers on July 25. “It’s only after the expert committee comes out with its opinion including alternate options, the government will be in a position to decide”. He, however, laid emphasis on winning the confidence of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. He said members of those groups had met representatives of all political parties and a cross section of the Kashmiri population.
“Pakistan has no locus standi in addressing any aspect of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, which is an internal matter of India, except to put an end to all cross-border terrorism, infiltration and support and instigation to terrorism and violence against India”.
Indian prime minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the government was committed to resolving the Kashmir issue peacefully under basic constitutional principles.
The House should appeal that the whole nation is united on the issue, Mr Kharge said which was promptly agreed to by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
