The producers of the CBS series announced on Friday (Aug. 12, 2016) that he will not return for the Season 12 when it returns on September 28.

Gibson played Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Aaron Hotchner in the series.

He said he had hoped to see the series through to the end, “but that won’t be possible now”. “I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our incredible crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have”. But the actor will not return to the show’s set for any additional filming, making it a challenge for producers to write out the character that has been a stalwart of the Federal Bureau of Investigation profilers drama since its inception in 2005. Eyewitness accounts said that they got into an argument, both sides got heated, and Gibson reacted to the aggression with a kick to said writer.

After news of his suspension broke the actor told Deadline: “There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement”.

Gibson was sent to anger management classes several years ago when he allegedly pushed an A.D. from the same series. “We always have, and we always will”. In 2013, Gibson was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Shemar Moore: Fans were stunned in season 11 when Moore’s character Derek Morgan, a beloved team member since the show first started, made a decision to leave the BAU to focus more on his wife and baby.

On Wednesday, CBS touted the additions of Adam Rodriguez and Aisha Tyler to the cast as series regulars during the Television Critics Association press tour.

The AV Club points out Gibson is far from the first Criminal Minds actor to depart the show, a list that includes Jennifer Love Hewitt, Aisha Tyler, and Jeanne Tripplehorn.
