As for Jones, the rookie has much less experience on road courses than veteran counterpart Gaughan. “You must know what you’re doing to get into the corners with proper technique or there are big penalties”.
Preece finished 27th in last week’s road race at Watkins Glen International after suspension problems sent his JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet to the garage.
Gaughan visited Victory Lane turning left and right at Road America in 2014, while Dillon placed third at Mid-Ohio past year. “He produced a 29th-place finish at Mid-Ohio in the Xfinity Series past year, but looked improved with a 13th-place output at Watkins Glen last weekend”. He’ll make his second career Mid-Ohio start after a 29th-place finish past year and knows there’s room for improvement. “I was pretty happy to run there past year with RCR in the Xfinity Series auto”.
After this weekend, there are only five more races left in the regular season and the Round of 12 to go for the championship begins at Kentucky Speedway on September 24.
“Every once in a while, you would dip off the racing surface so it’s important to limit those incidents”.
Almost all of auto racing is taking this weekend off with the exception of NASCAR’s Xfinity Series, which will be at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio for the Mid-Ohio Challenge.

While this is one of just three road races on the Xfinity circuit, at this point in the season it is a pivotal one. No driver in the field has ever won at Mid-Ohio, so a new race victor is guaranteed.
